    On Sunday, October 30, 2022, the Asharqia Chamber represented by the Women Empowerment Center organized a meeting to review the social insurance systems.

    During the meeting, which was held via the zoom platform, Khaled bin Turki Al-Turki, Private Sector Relations Officer at the General Organization for Social Insurance, said that the social insurance system represents a form of social solidarity provided by society to its citizens, as it is based on the care of workers subject to the system to provide them and their families with a decent life after leaving them. Work due to retirement, disability, or death, as well as medical care for people with work injuries or occupational diseases, and the necessary compensation in the event of an occupational disability or death.

    Regarding the conditions for disbursing the non-occupational disability pension, he said that the contributor is considered disabled when it is impossible for him, due to his health condition, to earn a wage equal to at least one-third of his previous wage and that the state of his disability continues for 6 months or more. (60) to be on the job subject to the scheme, and have a contribution period of no less than (12) continuous months or (18) intermittent months. The actual period of his subscription is (120) months or more or (60) months by adding a nominal period, provided that the state of disability is proven by the competent medical committees within a maximum of (18) months from the date of the end of the subscription period.

    As for the optional subscription, Al-Turki clarified that the subscriber may request to modify the income bracket he has chosen directly to the higher bracket, and he may also modify the income bracket to any lower bracket, and the contributor may also request to stop his subscription to the system, where the suspension is effective as of The first of the month following the month from which he wishes to stop his subscription or from the date on which he stopped paying the subscription.

    Al-Turki referred to the (Sand) program, which is the insurance system against unemployment, which aims to take care of the Saudi worker and his family during his period of unemployment. The system - which is one of the branches of the social insurance system - works to bridge the transitional gap between the previous job and the opportunity to obtain a new job for employees The private sector and the government sector are covered by the social insurance system lost their jobs for reasons beyond their control by providing a monthly source of income for the unemployed, providing training and assistance in searching for work.
